There are so many stories, fables and fairy tales about the little boy or girl, or husband or wife that simply couldn’t see what was right in front of them.
They feel poor or hungry or otherwise lacking and spend most of the tale focused on what they want instead of what they have. As we all know, these things tend not to end well.
And we’re all like this to some extent. We wake up in a bad mood and slowly, the entire world begins to look dull. We look around and instead of loving what we have, we want what someone else has. The grass looks so incredibly green on the other side of that proverbial fence.
“If only, if only, if only…” becomes our mantra, and indeed when we run that phrase through our minds enough times, our lives really do start to appear dull in comparison to what could be.
The 4 of Cups shows up when we're right about here. We’re feeling despondent, bored, unfulfilled. We look at others with jealousy and we silently berate ourselves for decisions in the past that led us here, to this place where we aren’t getting what we want, dammit!
So we sit and pout, we mope, we stare off into the distance and lament and generally feel pretty bad for ourselves.
But (you knew there was going to be a but) look at this card. He’s staring at the three full cups in front of him and hasn’t yet noticed the 4th cup hovering in a cloud of magical mist. This cup would be quite surprisingly similar to the Ace of Cups card and what do Aces bring?
So, this card has shown up today in your feed, your life, your awareness, to remind you that even though certain parts of your world look shitty and gray, the opportunity, excitement and fulfillment you seek is hovering behind you right now, just a touch to the right.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there.
So take a few final moments to languish in your depression (I mean after all, you’re certainly allowed to feel crappy about some turn of events) but as soon as you feel ready, start looking around you for favorable circumstances.
Sometimes what you think you want isn’t what you want at all, and you have to not get it in order to make space for something better. It simply requires a shift in your perspective.
