We’re been a bit on a Court Card run here- royalty in the house! This week we have a Page and the Page of Cups at that. The Pages hold the least amount of power of all of the court cards. Pages live in relative luxury and have the benefits of being wealthy and well connected but they aren’t decision makers (until perhaps later in their lives). Pages are Minor Arcana so they refer to the details in your life, not the themes. Cups always represent the water element which is all about emotions. After the last few weeks of fire (action) and earth (resources), it’s probably about time for some emotions.
Page cards represent youth. This can be youth as in an actual child (or younger person), it can mean immaturity or innocence, or they can refer to the beginning stages of an idea or project. When I draw a single card, and don’t have other cards flanking it to help develop an entire picture, there are so many different interpretations possible. As you read this, let whichever aspects of this reading that speak to you, tell their story. In other words, choose the bits that resonate the most with where you’re at, and assume that those parts are your personal reading.
Child like energy could represent an actual child in your life, it could mean that you’re acting childish, or perhaps you need to change a rigid perspective around a situation, into one that’s more child-like, innocent and open. There’s a fine line between operating from the demanding and subjective child mind and the inquisitive, transparent child mind. So pay attention to which side of that line you find yourself on this week.
You may find yourself contemplating something new or excited about something that’s about to begin. This is a cups card so the theme is emotions. When emotions are involved we don’t always make the most logical decisions and that’s okay, but be aware that we have immaturity (Page) combined with the emotions and don’t let yourself get too carried away. Pull in some of that King of Coin energy from a few weeks ago to help you ground before you make any big moves.
Page cards can also herald messages. The Page was traditionally the one to bring the messages to and from the Knights in the kingdom. Pay attention to messages being delivered, via your emotions. Sometimes emotions can’t be relied on because they’re so fleeting, but if you check in with your body (where you feel the emotion specifically) you can get good cluesabout the importance of what you’re feeling and whether the emotional message you’re getting is one that you want to give weight and importance to (or not).
When you look at this particular card, the imagery is relatively light. The ground is yellow, making it seem as if the sun is shining and the water is blue and calm. The Page, although dreamy, is also smiling. In Tarot, you can take clues for the theme of the card by dissecting the images. In this one, there isn’t any indication of trouble or hardship. The fish represents Pisces which is dreamy and sometimes disconnected energy but all in all, it’s safe to relax this week. You may find that your emotions are riding shot gun, your plans are a little undeveloped and your energy is scattered, but all is well. Know that all is well.
