It’s a new moon today and new moons are traditionally about becoming aware of what’s next for you and then setting goals to that end. This new moon is in the sign of Leo which is a fire sign. Leo fire is all about self expression and so if you want to use this new moon to your best advantage, set intentions that have to do with how you feel called to self-express.
The Two of Wands is a fitting card to pull for the energy of the astrology of the week. This is a minor arcana so it will speak to the details of your daily life. In this card we see a man of wealth ‘holding the world in his hands” and looking out over what appears to be abundant land full of green and growth. This is a card of possibilities coupled with the energy of taking command and getting what you want. The grey of the sky signifies open ended possibilities; this is a card of power and creation. Being in the suite of Wands, it represents the fire element (perfect for the Leo new moon) which means that we’re working with key words like: ideas, action and inspiration. The themes for this card will be in the realm of communication; speaking your mind, pioneering, venturing out.
There’s an element of “necessary courage” being hinted at with this card. In order to take charge and explore the world, fears have to be faced. You can almost see the man here taking a deep breath and steeling himself for the adventures to come, which brings me to a good point- you can look at the challenging things in your life that you need to face as “daunting tasks” or as “adventures”. As usual its all about perspective (Tarot is always about perspective because the card meanings are relatively fluid, depending on what’s going on)
The number 2 cards in Tarot signify that there are choices to be made. These cards tell you that if you want to level up, you have to choose, even when you really don’t want to. The thing that keeps us stuck in a place of indecision is the unending rumination about what happens if we choose the wrong thing. Remember though, that’s just predicting a future you don’t want, so stop focusing on everything that could go wrong. Now isn’t the time to get bogged down in fear. Tune into your body and think about both options. Which choice feels like the daunting task and which feels like the adventure? Move in the direction of which ever choice feels better even though it’s probably the most challenging of the two.
Once you’ve decided, it’s take a deep breath time. How can you be creative in moving toward what’s calling you? How can you do it differently than you’ve done it before? How can you make it an exciting adventure as opposed to a daunting challenge?
