Part of what makes a mid life crisis so unsettling is when the realizations about everything that’s ended in your life begin to filter in.
Sifting through your past and even examining the present can feel a little like looking around a landscape and seeing rubble amongst all of the growth.
Relationships that once were, possessions we once had and lost or gave away, pieces of our personalities that have changed so drastically that we no longer even recognize ourselves show up for examination.
We don’t have to be in the midst of a crisis though to experience the finality of an intense ending. This is the 8 of Cups. This card shows up when we've moved so far away from something we once needed or loved that we no longer feel their pull and we finally have closure.
Now, there are fresh endings where we’re still trying to navigate what life looks like from a new perspective and there are final endings.
Final endings arrive quietly, when we aren't really looking anymore. There’s a subtlety to these ones, they follow a far reaching timeline of minute terminations that happened in so many stages that we almost didn’t notice.
Looking around your life- what’s finished for good recently? How does it feel to see it? How do you feel overall?
Long endings can be tiring, they can leave you weary and drained, but on the other side are gifts like deeper meaning, and permission to let go. If you’re feeling tired and listless or you’re lacking energy somewhere in your life, this might be a message to you that it’s time to wrap something up and walk away.
If you’re feeling like you’re finally on the peaceful side of things, I encourage you to look for endings that have been in process for a long time and are finally complete, and honor them.
