RAW: Natural Born Artists

awakening_RAWImagine this: 30 or so bad-ass artists setting up booths in one of downtown Boulder's hip clubs. Nude paintings, abstract paintings, steam-punk jewelry, gemstone necklaces and rings, wood burning demo's, a short film, clothing designers, silk-screeners and 2 incredible fashion shows. We had the pleasure of being part of this amazing show last week! RAW was unlike any show we've ever done. A huge shout out and thank you to Johnnie Kuhn who was the head of the show. He seriously pulled off quite a feat. It's no small task to plan and execute a huge event like this one. RAW 2

The nightclub scene was high energy but the crowd was beautifully curated. People were interested, talkative and curious. One of my favorite parts were the 2 fashion shows. These indie designers really showed up! They designed clothes and orchestrated such beautiful performances. The hair and makeup artists also did an outstanding job. Their models were true examples of "real life beauty" which I talk a lot about here at Luscious Metals. I love it when women get opportunities to showcase their inner and outer beauty in artistic and creative (and non conforming) ways. RAW 1

The visual artists showed up with their beautiful art as well. Every time I do one of these shows, I see hard evidence that despite the lack of funding for art in the schools these days, there are still so many highly creative people out there that are creating art anyway. I got to chat with a handful of artists and it was such a pleasure. It's always so fun to get to talk to our peers in the indie art community to exchange ideas and discuss potential collaborations! All in all, it was a fabulous show.
