J Lounge

So we've been celebrating the concept of real life beauty over the past few months. (Read the initial blog post about it here.) We've been asking for our customers to send in photos of themselves wearing pieces of our jewelry and posting them on facebook. The response has been huge (check out our facebook page to see who's on it) and I think I can speak for all of us when when I say that we've been having a blast with the whole promotion. We've decided to take it a step further, and are working on a new concept where we're partnering with local businesses by going to their location and taking photographs of the women who work there wearing our jewelry. The first store that we worked with is called J Lounge in Boulder. The owners Julie and Jen were kind enough to open their doors to us and our project and we absolutely LOVED working with this crew of cool chicks. Jen and Julie_ lotus earrings

First, a little about the spa. The J Lounge space is light and airy and sunny. They offer everything a girl could want: relaxing massage, any kind of facial you could possible need, stellar mineral makeup and application, natural nail services and honestly, the most down to earth staff you could hope for. This space and place is like one of my heaven-fairy-dream lands-with a cherry on top if you know what I mean. It's tastefully decorated with the kinds of art that I wish I had in my own home, it's bright and clean and because it's set on a busy corner and has lots of windows, you get to watch the world go by as you relax. I always love places where I get to watch things happening. Plus, unlike some spas I've been to, the women who work there weren't the least bit intimidating. When we got there to do the shoot, they had just had a staff meeting and the atmosphere among the women was easy with lots of laughing. They were all really excited to check out our jewelry and had so much fun deciding what pieces to wear for their individual shoots.

It was a gorgeous day out, the energy was high yet relaxed and it was really fun to do this type of shoot because I got to watch each woman transform in front of the lens of the camera. jlounge_colleen Not everyone is comfortable getting their picture taken. We all come into the experience with a lot of judgements around how we look, shyness about smiling and opening up for the person behind the lens and just general trepidation about what is expected and the potential results (nobody likes a bad photo of themselves!) It was no different working with this group but while they were all hesitant at first, by the end of each individual shoot, the girls were laughing and cracking jokes with me. jlounge_claire

You can see it in all of these photos too, they all have their own personalities that they're letting shine through but most of all, they all have a lightness in their eyes don't they? That is what real life beauty is all about! jlounge_vanessa

As I was outside shooting the ladies, Whitney was inside helping them try on and play with the jewelry. We got great shots of everyone wearing the pieces and of course we were tickled that they all had such high compliments for us and had so much fun trying on the jewelry. jlounge_group

Jen and Julie liked the Spellbound and Star Rings so much, that they ordered a handful of them to sell in the store. spellbound star rings

Keep an eye on on the Luscious Metals facebook page as we will be featuring individual close up shots of each girl in their sparkly jewels in the coming weeks. Be sure to check out the J Lounge facebook page as well for specials and announcements and what not. >

Oh and more more (major!) thing: they were also gracious enough to invite us for a trunk show during their happy hour on Thursday Nov 14 from 3-6 where they offer a sweet deal on a mani-pedi combo, a makeup touch up and something to sip. If you're in the Boulder area, come see us there! Nov. 14th 3-6pm JLOUNGE NATURAL NAIL BAR AND SPA 3003 WALNUT STREET BOULDER, COLORADO 80301
